Susie’s dance journey didn’t start in a competition studio at three years old — it started with a love for movement.

Growing up, her favorite part of every school and church musical wasn’t the singing — it was learning the choreography. Even before she realized it, dance was becoming her language.

She took her first formal class in 5th grade (a jazz class), but it wasn’t the right fit at the time. In 7th grade, she auditioned for the church “hip hop” team — and didn’t make it. Instead, she was placed on what they called the “remedial” team to work on her craft. That year changed everything.

After dedicating herself to growth, she moved up to the main team, where they went on to win Fine Arts competitions. From there, she trained recreationally at Future Dance Center through high school before continuing her journey at Niagara University.

With no dance program initially available in college, Susie joined the Step Team and later started taking a recreational hip hop class at the Kiernan Center — taught by Rishone Todd, who would eventually become her best friend and business partner.

Through continued training at a local southtowns studio, Susie began teaching her own classes. When that studio transitioned and teaching opportunities paused, she and Rishone decided to create the space they wished existed — a welcoming, adult-focused studio rooted in strong fundamentals and growth.

In 2016, Musicality Central was born.

Now with over 11 years of teaching experience, Susie specializes in blending hip hop foundations with influences from open style, R&B, and performance-based movement. Her choreography ranges from smooth and sensual to fierce and high-energy — always guided by the music.

More than anything, dance is where Susie found her voice and confidence.

And helping adults discover their own is what drives her every time she steps into the room.
